I've added a live Twitter feed, which is nice, I suppose. It certainly adds some visual interest to the look of the site. I don't suppose it adds much from an SEO perspective, though - at least not from an SEO hygiene perspective. And of course, I have no control over what happens to drift by, whether it is "great paying #seo #job !" or "omfg ur #seo sux lolz". Also, the search feed goes by fast, and doesn't allow you to back up - you gotta be quick if you see something interesting.

In case you're wondering how I did it, wonder no more.

Twitter provides the widget code, which makes everything very easy. You can find widgets for you website at http://twitter.com/goodies/widgets. There are four available right now:

Profile Widget
Displays your most recent Twitter updates.

Search Widget
Displays search results in real time.

Faves Widget
Shows off your favorite tweets. Also in real time, this widget will pull in the tweets you've starred as favorites.

List Widget
Shows off the new List feature from Twitter.

So much for the free Twitter advertiesment.

I have a search widget on the right side. To get the code, I went to the search widget page, http://twitter.com/goodies/widget_search, and entered my search criteria - SEO, in this case, which of course casts a wide net indeed. Then I had the page generate the appropriate code, ready for a copy and paste job.

Next I created a new block on my page in the Drupal administration. I won't get into the nitty gritty there - it's not hard. Then made sure to specify Full HTML as the Input format - that's important. Then boom, there it is.

Maybe this is Twitter overkill, but hey, at least it is fun.
